2017 has been a challenging but exciting year! I’m relaxing and reflecting with family this Christmas and I realize I’ve let myself completely lose any semblance of work-life balance.
Why did this trip help me see the imbalance? Because my work computer crashed, I can’t access any databases or files from my personal computer, and the IT Help Desk said I would need to bring it in so they could trouble-shoot it – tough call when I’m half-way across the country. But, mostly, it is because my granddaughter said, “That’s okay Nana. You can play with me instead.” Aaahh! The wisdom of a 7-year-old.
I’m resting in my jammies, listening to an instrumental playlist, and doing nothing. Nothing is exactly what I need right now. This is the most perfect Christmas gift I could receive: doing nothing with the people I love the most.
I hope your holiday is what you need this year. If it wasn’t what you were expecting, then I hope you reflect a bit to see if there are ways to be grateful for your current situation. I also hope you reach out for help if life gets too real and that your resilience is strong enough to see you through.
Merry Christmas!!!
